Calling all ice cream lovers in Salem! The Ice Scream Bowl is back and ready to delight your taste buds. Prepare to dive into the finest ice cream offerings from the North Shore. The event is slated for Wednesday, August 9, on the Salem Common, from 6:00-7:30 p.m., regardless of weather conditions. This much-loved annual event, part of Salem’s Heritage Days, allows you to savor some classic and innovative ice cream flavors from top local shops.

The sampling roster features renowned local businesses including Captain Dusty’s Ice Cream, Cherry Farm Creamery, Holy Cow Ice Cream Café, Melt Ice Cream, Whimsy’s Sweet Life, among others. To keep the fun and energy high, the local DJ group Salem Halloween Girls will spin some sweet beats throughout the evening.

Entry to this creamy delight is priced at $6 for adults and $4 for children. Tickets can be purchased at the event venue on the same day—please note it’s a cash-only affair. Every ticket comes with a spoon and napkins. And don’t worry about the environmental impact—the event ensures all materials are recyclable or compostable.

But the fun doesn’t stop there. The Ice Scream Bowl will be immediately followed by the Salem Common Neighborhood Association’s Movie Night. The chosen film is “Holes,” screening at 8 pm. Remember to bring a blanket and camp chairs to enjoy a wonderful outdoor movie experience post the ice cream indulgence.

Our heartfelt gratitude to Broad Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, Silly Bunny, and Witch City Wicks for their support, and the participating ice cream shops for their generous donations of products and staff time, making the 2023 Ice Scream Bowl possible.

All proceeds from the event will go towards Salem Main Streets, a nonprofit dedicated to rejuvenating downtown Salem into a thriving, year-round retail, dining, and cultural hub. It’s a collaborative effort with the City of Salem as part of Salem Heritage Days.
