About Waters Edge Ceramics

Waters Edge Ceramics is a small-batch pottery studio where artist Jen hand-builds functional and whimsical stoneware. Each piece is made slowly and mindfully, one at a time. Moreover, every item is designed to live well beyond the studio, finding a home with someone who will treasure it.

Jen has been drawn to clay for decades, and that connection shapes everything she makes. When she looks at an object in the world, she imagines how to form it in clay. Meanwhile, in her studio, her focus stays on how the final owner will hold, use, and connect with each piece.

Our Experience

Ceramics can feel deeply personal, especially with mugs and cups that touch our lips. Consequently, how a piece feels in your hands matters just as much as how it looks.

Years ago, an injury ended Jen’s work at the wheel, and she had to rethink her whole process. Instead of stepping away, she embraced hand-building. Additionally, she found that pinching, ribs, and a banding wheel brought her closer to the materials and to each finished piece.

This analog, personal approach has become a quiet blessing in a fast-moving world. Furthermore, it means no two pieces are ever exactly alike.

Functional Stoneware

These pieces are built for real, daily life. Made from mid-range stoneware, they suit both indoor and outdoor settings. In addition, every item is food-safe and safe on the top rack of the dishwasher.

Mugs and Cups

Because we touch mugs and cups to our lips, comfort truly matters. Each one is shaped to feel natural and grounding in your hands. As a result, these everyday vessels often become cherished favorites.

Whimsical and Decorative Work

Not every piece is strictly practical, and that is part of the charm. Some carry a small cat somewhere on the surface, a nod to Jen’s studio companion. He once loved sitting on her work table, and this is a gentle way he stays present.

Gifts

Many pieces leave the studio bound for someone special. Jen loves hearing where her work travels, sometimes to other countries entirely. Learning that a piece will become a gift is always an honor.

What Makes Waters Edge Ceramics Special

The soft matte surfaces set this work apart, gently accented with glaze to highlight their quiet character. Every piece is built by hand, the slow way, with genuine care and intention.

Jen’s methods are personal and analog from start to finish. She mixes her own surfaces, decorates with terra sigillata, glaze, and underglaze, then fires each piece in her studio kiln. Consequently, every object carries the mark of a single maker.

That hidden cat is a small, heartfelt signature. It turns each piece into a little story worth sharing.
