Cinema|Salem: Making Plans for the Future

Marshall Strauss and Elaine Gerdine have bought Cinema|Salem from Paul Van Ness, and the couple aims to reopen the much-loved independent theater later this spring. To bring their ideas into action in a way that will serve the community, the couple has hired small management team — which includes John Andrews of Creative Collective — to help expand its cultural and artistic presence in the region.

The partnership is a work in progress! Follow @cinemasalem on Facebook and Instagram for updates, and please take the questionnaire below to help guide the process.

Cinema Salem relaunch questionnaire.

Since Cinema Salem closed its doors in March 2020, the world has changed profoundly. Yet the importance of a local, independent cinema as a place to come together has never been more clear.

As we work to re-open Cinema Salem and establish how best to serve the community, we’d like your feedback to help us create something magical.
