In celebration of Black History Month 2025, The Galleries at LynnArts (GALA) is launching a groundbreaking exhibition that weaves together the powerful threads of art, labor, and activism in Black history. “The Art of Activism” invites artists to explore and interpret the profound impact of African Americans on labor movements and workplace justice across generations.
A Canvas for Change: Exhibition Theme and Vision
This year’s theme, “African Americans and Labor,” opens a vital dialogue about the historical and ongoing struggle for economic empowerment and workplace equality. Artists are encouraged to delve deep into the rich tapestry of Black labor history – from the origins of workers’ rights movements to contemporary struggles for economic justice.
The exhibition welcomes diverse artistic interpretations that span the African Diaspora, creating a space where past meets present through creative expression. Whether your work examines historical labor movements, celebrates Black achievement in various industries, or explores current workplace dynamics, your artistic voice can contribute to this important conversation.
