Christmas in Salem, thought to be the nation’s longest running holiday house tour, invites visitors to tour historic homes in Salem’s Historic Derby Street Neighborhood from November 30–December 2, 2018. Homes will be beautifully decorated for the holiday season set to the theme of “A Very Hawthorne Holiday” to celebrate The House of the Seven Gables’ 350th Anniversary.

The Preview Candlelight Tour (for advance ticket holders only) will be held on Friday, November 30, 2018, from 5:30–8:30 pm and will feature selected homes. On Saturday, December 1st from 10:00 am–4:30 pm and Sunday, December 2nd from 11:30 am–4:30 pm all sites will be open for tours.

Christmas in Salem has become far more than a house tour. It’s now a city-wide event for both residents and out-of-town visitors. There are local attractions, walking tours, live music, and discounts available for all tour goers.

This year marks the 39th anniversary of Historic Salem, Inc.’s largest fundraiser. Always held the first weekend in December, Christmas in Salem is a wonderful opportunity to visit one of the nation’s most storied cities. Christmas in Salem encourages tour goers to enjoy everything the city has to offer, including local restaurants and shops during the holiday season. A complimentary trolley takes visitors from downtown parking locations to the tour route, providing historical information and a festive ride that will get everyone in the holiday spirit.

Advance prices are $30 each for Historic Salem, Inc., House of the Seven Gables, and Creative Collective members and $35 each for the general public.

Tickets may be purchased in advance beginning on Monday, October 15, 2018, by visiting or by calling Historic Salem, Inc. at 978.745.0799. Deadline for advance ticket sales is Thursday, November 29 at 5 pm. Tickets for the house tours can be purchased at the House of the Seven Gables at 115 Derby Street, on December 1st and 2nd for $40 each.

Christmas in Salem is presented by Historic Salem, Inc. an advocacy group dedicated to preserving Salem’s historic resources and educating the community about their value.
