In your own words, tell us about your business, organization, or initiative.
Cornucopia Threads is a slow and steady project that I have been developing since 2021 when I first picked up a tufting gun. My work is a collection of hand-crafted fiber art and decor. Having spent countless hours honing my craft, I’m excited to be entering a new phase of sharing tufting with others.
Tell us a bit about you and why you do what you do. Share your passions for your business, organization, or initiative.
I’m really passionate about art and creating with my own hands. The time involved and different steps to creating a tufted piece are what made me fall in love with rug making. It’s very therapeutic. And fiber brings such a range of sensory comforts, like when you are wearing it, crafting it, or sinking your toes into it.
What is the last thing you read, watched, or listened to that had an impact on you?
Something that really impacted me recently was actually a conversation I had with an amazing artist. She was telling me about her experiences and her path as a bootmaker. What resonated with me is that I don’t have to choose between making something a little more personal and meaningful vs. something more commercial/lucrative. I can pursue both my art and my business by finding the right time and community.
What’s the one thing people would be surprised to learn about you or your business?
I’m a self-taught artist. I have learned rug making through practice and failing.
