About Erin

Erin Survilas is a feminist oil painter who received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Montserrat College of Art in Spring 2025, with minors in curatorial studies, art history, and entrepreneurship. Established as an artist since 2017, Erin focuses on painting the figure in a contemporary sense with historical references, exploring themes that challenge societal norms and promote healing through art. Her journey began as a personal quest for self-acceptance after struggling with self-image, discovering that painting became her path to healing and self-discovery.

My Services

I create feminist paintings that focus on self-care, mental health, womanhood, and body neutrality, working across multiple mediums to help viewers develop a more romantic and accepting relationship with themselves and their bodies.

My work aims to convince the public to view their bodies with romanticism rather than judgment. Body neutrality, a central theme in my paintings, expresses satisfaction within ourselves instead of pressuring us to maintain constant body positivity—allowing us to feel normal about our bodies and their functions. I incorporate traditionally “female” mediums like fabric and ribbon to frame my works, adding layers of meaning to the feminist narrative.

Artistic Mission

After struggling with self-image throughout my young adult life, I found that the only way to heal was to paint through it. My work expresses self-satisfaction, excitement, normality, and self-acceptance. Each piece is designed to help viewers develop a healthier relationship with their own bodies and self-perception, moving away from “good” or “bad” body judgments toward acceptance and romance with oneself.

As a current Student Liaison Board member of the Salem Arts Association since 2017, I’m committed to fostering artistic community while pushing boundaries around how we view femininity, womanhood, and self-care in contemporary art.
