An Immersive Exhibition at Salem Arts Association

Salem Arts Association proudly presents “Shattered,” an unprecedented immersive exhibition curated by Tadhg Slater, breaking traditional boundaries and redefining the gallery experience this January 2025.

About the Exhibition

“Shattered” explodes the boundaries of traditional art experiences, inviting viewers to journey through a world of fractured reflections, distorted perspectives, and unexpected juxtapositions. This groundbreaking exhibition, born from the collaborative redesign of the gallery by the artists themselves, transforms our space into an immersive environment where walls dissolve, floors shift, and reality bends.

Artistic Focus

We seek submissions exploring themes of:

  • Brokenness
  • Identity
  • Memory
  • Transformation
  • Perception

Eligibility

  • Open to national, regional, local, and outsider artists
  • All mediums welcome
  • Work created at any time is eligible
  • Artists must agree to Salem Arts Association Artist Agreement

Opportunities

Selected artists will:

  • Exhibit in a cutting-edge immersive environment
  • Collaborate with renowned artists including:
    • Tadhg Slater
    • Will Weygint
    • Jonathan Pinto
    • David Curcio
    • Aaron Kuzman
  • Participate in the gallery installation process (local artists)
  • Reach a diverse audience with potential career-launching exposure

Important Dates

  • Gallery Immersive Installation Begins: December 16, 2024
  • Submission Deadline: December 26, 2024
  • Artwork Delivery Deadline: January 2, 2025 (12:00-4:00 PM)
  • Exhibition Dates: January 11 – February 9, 2025
  • Opening Reception: Friday, January 10, 2025 (6:00-8:00 PM)
  • Artwork Pickup: Monday, February 10, 2025 (12:00-4:00 PM)

Submission Process

  • Email submissions to: Tadhg.Slater@salemarts.org
  • Include:
    • Artist statement
    • CV
    • Images/video of work
  • No submission fee required
  • Only accepted pieces will be curated into the exhibition

Sales and Commission

  • Artists are encouraged but not required to offer work for sale
  • Member commission: 35% of selling price
  • Non-member commission: 50% of selling price
  • Payments issued within 60 days of sale
  • W-9 form required for sales totaling $600 or more in a calendar year

Special Notes

  • The gallery shop will be closed in January to preserve the immersive experience.
  • Local artists are expected to participate in the installation process
  • Shipping arrangements available for non-local artists
  • All artwork must adhere to Salem Arts Association framing guidelines

Jurying

Exhibition will be juried by Tadhg Slater and collaborating established artists. Decisions are final.
