Introduction – A Christmas Carol at North Shore Music Theatre
The holiday season is fast approaching, and cherished traditions bring families and friends together. One such tradition is the annual “A Christmas Carol” production at Bill Hanney’s North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT). Celebrating its 35th anniversary, this award-winning musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’s classic tale returns from December 5 through December 22, 2024, promising to enchant audiences of all ages.
A Timeless Holiday Tradition
Since its debut in 1989, created specifically for NSMT by former Artistic Director Jon Kimbell and the NSMT staff, “A Christmas Carol” has become a staple of New England’s holiday festivities. Over one million people have experienced Ebenezer Scrooge’s transformative journey through magical ghostly encounters that reveal the season’s true spirit. With dazzling special effects, traditional and original songs, and vibrant costumes, the show continues to captivate and inspire.
A Stellar Cast Returns
This year’s production is extra special as it marks the 30th year that David Coffee and Cheryl McMahon reprise their iconic roles as Ebenezer Scrooge and Mrs. Dilber/Mrs. Fezziwig, respectively. “We are honored to have assembled another all-star cast for this special 35th Anniversary production,” says NSMT’s owner and producer Bill Hanney. The cast also features talented performers like Kerry Conte as The Ghost of Christmas Past/Mrs. Cratchit and Davron S. Monroe as The Ghost of Christmas Present/Philanthropist 1, alongside a group of enthusiastic local youth performers who add charm to the story.
Behind the Magic
The creative team, led by Director and Choreographer Kevin P. Hill and Music Director Milton Granger, brings the story to life with impressive scenic designs by Howard C. Jones, lighting by Jack Mehler, and sound by Leon Rothenberg. Special flying effects provided by ZFX, Inc. add a wonder touch that will mesmerize audiences.
Join Tiny Tim’s Toy Drive
Embodying the spirit of giving, NSMT invites attendees to participate in Tiny Tim’s Toy Drive throughout the show’s run. Guests can bring unopened, unwrapped toys for children ages 2 to 12. All donations will benefit Toys for Tots, helping to spread joy to less fortunate children during the holiday season. A Christmas Carol at North Shore Music Theatre
