Bit Bar, one of Salem’s favorite restaurants and barcades re-opens this Thursday, August 6th. And while the game room won’t be open at first, the 800+ square feet patio will be.

Plus, starting the week, your dogs will also be welcome to hang out with you while you grab a drink, some wings, and some tetris tots in the shade.

Unlike many of the restaurants in downtown Salem, Bit Bar hit a bureaucratic wall this Summer when The Baker Administration’s Phase 3 reopening went into effect. Despite the fact that Bit Bar is a restaurant and bar first and arcade second, the rules were a bit gray on their ability to fully reopen.

Fortunately for North Shore diners, they were able to figure out the food and drink part of it, but they could still use some help letting legislators know that because they’re not a traditional arcade, they should be able to open fully.

In a post made on their Facebook page on July 23, Bit Bar encouraged MA residents who are fans of the restaurant’s games to contact their state representatives and senators know about how unfair this legislation is.

Co-Owner Rob Hall said that while it’s a “bummer” that the games part of the restaurant won’t be able to open right away, he’s “very happy overall” with how the state has handled recovery. And he’s excited that Bit Bar is able to reopen at all this Summer.

Bit Bar’s 800+ square foot patio has plenty of room for socially distanced outdoor dining.

“We do have a lot of a lot of fans and a lot of friends who are excited for us to open up,” Hall said. “Over the last four years we’ve been open, we’ve developed our menu and all items on there are winners.”

Another exciting element he mentioned was the cocktail menu, which will focus on Bit Bar’s “Greatest hits” of the last few years.

“We usually revise out cocktail menu three or four times a year, so we’ll be able to pull some of our favorites,” he said. “That includes our popular watermelon based cocktails.”

Bit Bar reopens this Thursday, August 6th for takeout, delivery, and indoor/patio dining. Reservations are strongly encouraged. Make sure to follow their Facebook page for up to date information on menu items and hours.
